A Call for Topics!

I'm in the process of designing a "curriculum" of sorts for this blog, and I'd love to know what kinds of things teen writers are wondering about, or would like to learn about. If you have any suggestions or questions, please leave me a comment so I can add it to my list of things to cover!

Thanks!
Nancy

  1. Hi Nancy,

I discovered your blog because of the Teen Writers Conference - which is amazing. To be honest, I was only twelve when I started going to it (making this my third year to attend), but I was already big on writing at the time.

In sixth grade I wrote Part 2 of a book (though I didn't realize it until later on) for an extracurricular project called University of Learning. It went well, but then I set my book down for almost two years (thankfully, not five!). But recently, I picked it up again - my mom and I are having a contest to see which one of us can finish our book first. Yesterday alone I wrote more than 1600 words, and I am having fun with it. I think having a good incentive definitely helps in writing (my incentive being getting a Facebook account, and not having to go off sugar for four months).

I don't know if this is a good idea or anything, but it's all I can think of right now - maybe you could write a post about incentives. I know some people can be really intimidated about getting started (having been one of them), so if you have any suggestions for us scribblers, maybe that could be something to write about.

Anyway, I hope you can continue this blog! It's really charming, and has some wonderful tips. The posts about warming up, writers block, and expository dialogue were especially useful, and I'd love to hear more from you. As often as you update, I'll be here. :)
